Kate is currently the National Policy and Business Development Manager with Greening Australia Ltd. In her current role she has been responsible for developing and negotiating new funding proposals to better involve the GA regional networks in the regional delivery arrangements for the NAP and NHT.
Prior to joining Greening Australia, Kate had five years from 1996-2000 working with the dispersed communities and industries of the Lake Eyre Basin to design and establish a regional NRM organisation, the Lake Eyre Basin Coordinating Group, for which she was the first Chief Executive. Kate made a big difference in bringing these groups together to think and act as part of one whole catchment.
'Kate was successful against a highly competitive field of more than 30 applicants for this position. She brings to the Corporation outstanding people skills and ability as a natural communicator. She has terrific understanding of the adoption context in rural Australia, excellent strategic abilities and big picture understanding. Kate is committed to bringing scientific knowledge and local knowledge to bear for improved NRM and has a very good track record in delivering results with small teams of people and limited resources' said Andrew Campbell.
Andrew Campbell paid tribute to the former Communication Manager Christine Ellis. 'Christine has done a great job over the last three years leading a complete overhaul of our communication effort and building a highly capable team. Kate Andrews will build on this excellent platform by strengthening and developing more innovative approaches to the adoption challenge, and changing the way we think about and manage knowledge accordingly.'
Kate will start at Land & Water Australia full-time from 15 March 2004.
