Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry The Hon Warren Truss MP launched the 2004 AFFA Science and Innovation Awards for Young People on March 30 2004.

The awards began in 2001 and since then 50 young people from rural and regional areas, including Land & Water Australia sponsored winners Dannielle Edwards , Jeff Meggs , Anna Traegerand Mark Ziembicki, have undertaken projects that will contribute to the sustainability of Australia's agriculture, fisheries, forestry, food and natural resource management industries.

In 2004, awards will be presented to young people from each State and Territory along with industry awards from Australia's nine Research and Development corporations.

Applications for the awards close Monday 31 May 2004.
